E-mail: fwalsh@uchicago.edu Froma Walsh, PhD is Co-Director, Chicago Center for Family Health and is the Mose & Sylvia Firestone Professor Emerita at the University of Chicago in the School of Social Administration and Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Walsh is a leading authority on family resilience. She has developed a research-informed Family Resilience Framework identifying key family processes for resilience in couples and families. Her family resilience approach for community-based intervention and prevention strengthens the capacity of families facing adversity through crises, trauma, and loss; disruptive transitions; and multi-stress conditions of persistent life challenges. Her collaborative practice approach integrates cultural and spiritual resources in recovery, healing, and positive growth. With 120+ publications, her books include: Strengthening Family Resilience, (2nd ed. 2006/2011); Spiritual Resources in Family Therapy (2nd ed., 2009); Normal Family Processes: Growing Diversity & Complexity, (4th ed. 2012); Living Beyond Loss: Death in the Family, (2nd. ed.); and Women in Families.
