E-mail: cherlin@jhu.edu Andrew J. Cherlin is Griswold Professor of Sociology and Public Policy at Johns Hopkins University. In 1999, he was President of the Population Association of America. In 2003 he received the Distinguished Career Award from the Family Section of the American Sociological Association. In 2005-2006 he was a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow. His research interests include the well-being of parents and children in low-income families and the changing nature of marriage and family life over the past century. His recent articles include "The Deinstitutionalization of American Marriage" in the Journal of Marriage and Family and "Family Instability and Child Well-Being" in the American Sociological Review. He is the author of the The Marriage-Go-Round: The State of Marriage and the Family in America Today (Alfred A. Knopf, 2009). |
